Alexandria is the main port in Egypt, with 75% of foreign trade passing through it. The port dates back almost 4,000 years to when the Pharaohs established a port west of Pharous and Pharoon Islands. Today there are two ports, the Eastern Port and the Western Port, separated by a T-shaped peninsula.
