FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
Please note: The description below reflects operation as a pre-cruise overland, but can also operate post-cruise in reverse sequence.

DAY 1 – Abroad to Delhi
Arriving today in Delhi, you will be met at the airport and assisted with your transfer to the hotel to check in and spend the night.

DAY 2 - Delhi In the morning, take a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi. Visit the Raj Ghat, the memorial at the site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated, Jama Mosque, the largest mosque in India, and drive past the Red Fort, once the most opulent fort and palace of the Moghul Empire.

In the afternoon you’ll tour New Delhi, visiting Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar. As you drive along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, pass the imposing India Gate, Parliament House and the President's Residence to end the tour with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 – Delhi to Agra
After breakfast at the hotel, you depart for Agra by coach. Agra was the capital of the great Mughal Empire. On arrival, you will check in at your hotel, and after lunch visit the Agra Fort, with its imposing gates, walls of red sandstone and moat that dominates the center of the city. After visiting Agra Fort, continue to the Taj Mahal to glimpse the monument graced by the light of the setting sun. This beautiful mausoleum in pure white marble was built by Emperor Shah Jehan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The rays of the setting sun make the monument a wonder to behold. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4 – Agra to Jaipur
Enjoy an early morning visit to the Taj Mahal to experience its splendour and beauty kissed by the light of the rising sun. Return to the hotel for a full American breakfast before you proceed by road to Jaipur. En route you will stop at Fatehpur Sikri, The City of Victory, to explore the deserted city of Emperor Akbar, whose audience halls, palaces and mosques are perfectly preserved. The vast, imperial capital, with its 500 splendid buildings, was abandoned after only fourteen years due to lack of a water supply. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, then you continue the drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival in Jaipur, check in at the magnificent Rambagh Palace Hotel, or similar. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 5 – Jaipur
This morning, drive along the streets of Jaipur to Amber Fort, the capital of Jaipur State until 1728. See the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors before continuing on to the Amber Fort. On the crest of a rugged hilltop and overlooking Lake Moata, the fort lends a majestic strength that evokes thoughts of legends and fairytales. A turban tying ceremony has been arranged for you to learn why the turban is of tremendous relevance in India, particularly to the Rajputs of Rajasthan as it symbolizes victory. Those who are ready for adventure will take an elephant ride to the gates of Amber Fort! (An alternative vehicle ride is available.) After lunch, you’ll continue with an afternoon tour of Jaipur. Your tour will bring you to the finest of the city’s monuments, the City Palace—a dazzling showplace of Hindu and Mughal architecture. You will then visit the Jantar Mantar next door, better known as The Observatory. Built between 1728 and 1734, the instruments are amazingly accurate even today.

In the evening, enjoy dinner accompanied by a Rajasthani dance show and retire to your hotel.

DAY 6 – Jaipur to Upaipur
Today you fly to Udaipur and check in at your hotel. Later, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Udaipur, stopping first at City Palace. Here you will marvel at rooms with mirrored walls and ivory doors, coloured glass windows and inlaid marble balconies, and the Peacock Courtyard. Also visit the lovely Sahelion-ki-Bari Gardens.

In the afternoon, take a motor launch cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. From the boat you will be able to view the city of Udaipur as it rises majestically above the lake in the middle of the Rajasthan desert. Also visit the Jag Mandir Palace - the other lovely island palace in the middle of the lake.

Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 7 – Udaipur to Mumbai
Flying to Mumbai today, you will be met and assisted upon arrival and enjoy a city highlights tour of Mumbai (Bombay). Visit the Prince of Wales Museum, the fascinating Dhobi Ghat outdoor laundry and Mani Bhawan before ending at the pier to board your ship.
