Hilton Villa Igiea
Located on the harbor, this Art Nouveau style villa was built in the 1800's by an Englishman as his private residence and was transformed into a hotel in 1907. Although the hotel is in close proximity to the port, there is a small sandy area where it is possible to swim. You can also see the ruins of an ancient Greek temple on the grounds near the hotel's beautiful swimming pool that over looks the bay. There is a cool new bar built in what was originally the cantina - complete with pianist nightly - and bar service is also available at the pool during warm weather. During the excavations, a 12th century enoteca was discovered beneath the villa. It has been restored and is used for wine tasting. The Altana Suite, located in the tower with its own staircase entry, is bi-level with a 360º panoramic view of Siena. Two of the junior suites are located on the top floor, each with its own terrace and view. Rooms have all the amenities expected of a luxury property.
