FULL LENGTH TOUR DESCRIPTION
Departing your ship in Mombasa, arrive at Kenya Marineland in Mikondi Village and begin your visit with a cup of Arab coffee or tea. Giriama girls display maize grinding and prepare fresh chapattis, and wood carvers have items to browse that you can have personalised for collection in the afternoon. Then it’s time to board your dhow at the waterfront jetties for a delightful morning spent sailing out towards the Indian Ocean. Depending on the sea conditions, either head out into the deep blue for dolphin spotting or sail inside the reef amongst coral heads and the many reef fishermen. The dhows then return to the Aquamarine Restaurant for an exotic barbeque lunch of kebabs of beef, ostrich, crocodile, game meat by availability, chicken and grilled Indian Ocean sailfish accompanied by a variety of spicy salads.
After lunch, re-board the dhow for a relaxing cruise inside Mtwapa Creek to view the mangrove forest, giant Baobabs, hilltop villages and the African wilderness. On the return trip your crew will entertain you with rope knots, dancing, limbo and acrobatic displays, and a Kitenge fashion show. Henna tattoos and hair braiding are also available onboard. Stop at Kenya Marineland, enjoy some time to stroll through the reptile-park and aquarium before boarding your coach for the transfer back to the pier.
