A&K Myanmar Relief Fund
A&K Philanthropy has been engaged in philanthropic works in Myanmar for the last three years developing and carrying out projects especially to help victims of the civil unrest in September 2007 as well as the devastating Cyclone Nargis that tore through the delta region of Myanmar in May 2008.
Following the cyclone A&K Philanthropy initiated emergency food, shelter, clothing and medical aid to many hundreds of thousands of homeless people. This was then followed by a large donation of equipment to help regenerate the farming in the delta region including both rice cultivation and fishing. Other projects include sponsoring five medical students through their studies at Mandalay and Yangon University, buying and distributing fishing nets throughout the cyclone region, sponsoring the rebuilding of the bridge at the village of Mya Sein Kan, assisting with the repairs of various schools with the provision of new tables, chairs, books and pens for the children, totally rebuilding and furnishing a new children's home in the north Dagon area of Yangon as well as financing three other orphanages including Grace Home Orphanage in Yangon where $20 per guest from A&K revenue goes towards cooking oil, rice, clothes and medicine every month.
Visit an Orphanage with A&K
We offer the clients the chance to come and visit one of the orphanages and see how donations are making a difference. For further information on including such a visit in a Myanmar itinerary, contact A&K Myanmar.
