
We are proud to announce that according to the prestigious magazine Travel + Leisure, two of our Peruvian hotels are ranked among the “10 Top Resorts” in Central and South America. In the 4th place is the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo hotel located in the town of Aguas Calientes at the foot of the Machu Picchu mountain and in the 5th place, the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge on top of the mountain. Costa del Sol, leader hotel chain in North Peru with already 6 properties including the Costa del Sol Ramada hotel at the International Airport in Lima announced their newest acquisition, this time in Cusco: The Picoaga. Originally a XVII century colonial mansion of a Spanish Noble, the Marquis of Picoaga, has been completely renovated and turned into a comfortable hotel with 72 rooms and a beautiful courtyard, 17 colonial style rooms and 55 in the modern area of the building. After what has been a very challenging few months for Peru we are delighted to announce that full train services have resumed as of the 1st July 2010 allowing passengers to board trains both in Poroy (nearby to Cusco) and Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Included in the resumption of services is the return to operation of the luxury Hiram Bingham train between Poroy and Aguas Calientes. As well as this month witnessing the re-opening of train lines to and from Machu Picchu, we also expect to have a confirmed date for the inauguration of the Andean Railways service to Machu Picchu adding to the services of Peru Rail and Inca Rail.
From August 02nd, 2010 Lan Airlines will commence its operations from Lima to Brasilia without stops, the new air route will connect this two amazing destinations with three frequencies per week - Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays - an excellent opportunity for those who seek to know the country of the Incas and the tropical Brazilian culture.
Peruvian celebrity chef and Aqua Expeditions Executive Chef, Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, recently made a series of special guest appearances at NOBU Tokyo as part of a Peru Fair hosted by culinary giant Nobu Matsihusa. Cooking alongside fellow Peruvian Chef Toshiro Konishi and Nobu himself, chef Schiaffino prepared a variety of dishes highlighting the best of Peruvian cuisine for VIPs, media, and regular guests. Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, currently serves as the Executive Chef for Aqua Expeditions, a luxury cruise company venturing into some of the most remote areas of the Peruvian Amazon. He also owns Malabar and La Pescaderia restaurants in Lima. Known for his ingenious modern use of Andean and Amazonian ingredients, chef Schiaffino's first Amazonian cuisine cookbook is due to be released later this year.

The city of Trujillo has an important archaeological and cultural heritage of the ancient pre-Hispanic cultures Mochica-Chimu, and is surrounded by interesting small towns like Chan Chan (the largest mud city of the ancient Peruvian world, declared world site heritage by UNESCO). From June 19th Trujillo hosts the “Huacas de Moche” museum which displays archaeological remains from the Mochica people found in the surrounding areas of Trujillo during the last 19 years of researches. Jewelry, ceramics, garments and a series of objects and important information from the religious traditions and customs of the inhabitants of this culture is what can be seen in this new museum. From July 1 Lima delights us with a new culinary proposal. Mesa 18 is the name of a new restaurant that offers cuisine with dishes inspired by local recipes prepared from the best Peruvian products. Seafood such as sea bass and squid or river fish, as the Paiche and the Doncella, will join the menu of Mesa 18 restaurant, together with a delicate Foie Gras, Oxtail Cannelloni and Porcini fungi in a stunning version. A collection of irresistible desserts, among other dishes that despite their sophistication will be presented with the art of home made dishes, all framed by a beautiful garden overlooking the Pacific Ocean, located in the exclusive residential district of Miraflores, where history and tradition go hand in hand with important cultural, commercial and financial centers. A new property will open its doors in Cusco this year. Built in an old colonial mansion from the sixteenth century located just two blocks from the center where the main Plaza the Armas is, the Aranwa Cusco hotel will have 43 rooms equipped with whirlpool tubs and decorated with works of art and important historical pieces. Hotel’s services includes wireless Internet, mini bar, electronic safe, maid service twice a day, 24 hours room service and Business Center. This hotel will open in October 2010.
