Russian Railways has introduced a direct train service between Moscow and Paris that will run 3 times a week. The train has several deluxe cars and 1st and 2nd class sleeper compartments and the journey will take 38.5 hours. The Radisson Royal Hotel in Moscow has been announced as the Best Hotel at the World Travel Awards for the second year running. Built between 1953 and 1957, the building is a great example of Soviet neoclassicism. Also nominated were Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel du Rhone in Geneva. 2012 will see the 1150th anniversary of Russia which will be celebrated in Novgorod in a similar fashion to the 100th anniversary celebrations held in 1862. The iconic Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow is set to reopen in October after 6 years of reconstruction. Famous for its ballet and opera performances, the theatre has been rebuilt to its former 19th century Czarist glory with embroidered silk tapestry and acoustics improving fir. The theatre will reopen with a gala concert and will host world premieres and classic masterpieces through the 2011/2012 season.
