Arrive Zanzibar
On arrival at Zanzibar International Airport your representatives and driver will welcome you in their traditional Kanzu. You will be escorted in original local wooden buses called Dalla Dallas to Serena Inn. Lunch will be served on the terrace whilst taking in the beautiful views as the ships come into harbour and the dhow boats glide past.
Afterwards walk with your expert local guide through the winding alleys, bustling bazaars, mosques and grand Arab houses of Stone Town on the way to the House of Wonders and the Old Fort, sites of cultural and historic importance. Soak up the ambience as you walk through the properties of former Omani sultans. Later walk back to Serena Inn and leave for a fantastic dhow cruise in traditional wooden boats along the coast with a fantastic panoramic view of Stone Town. As you approach a sandbank merging from the clear waters you will disembark to find waiters offering you chilled champagne and mouth watering canapés. Musicians that accompanied you on board continue singing and playing their Persian ballads of old.
At 6pm you head back while watching the glorious sun set. You will have time to freshen up and change into something more suitable for the evening. A gourmet feast fit for a sultan will be served as you’re seated on the floor on huge mezzanine cushions with incense burning in the air and Taarab music softly playing in the background. After your feast walk to the nearby Livingstone’s Bar for cocktails on the beach. Named after the famous explorer and anti-slavery campaigner, it is here that he lived whilst researching about the darkest interior of Africa.

Breakfast this morning will be taken overlooking the glorious Indian Ocean. Afterwards depart with your driver and guide for a spice tour en route to Karafuu Beach Resort on the east coast.
Journey to the countryside where you will have the chance to smell numerous spices and plants used for medicinal purposes. Eat seasonal fruits handpicked for you. Later travel to Mangapwani on the west coast for a guided tour of the nearby slave caves before arriving at the fabulous Mangapwani Serena Hotel for lunch. After lunch continue eastwards to Karafuu where you are free to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing on the beach or by the pool.

After breakfast, there are a choice of options available. You can spend the day relaxing on the beach, snorkelling or swimming, or leave for a programme of excursions.

• A morning or afternoon in Jozani Forest with lunch back at Karafuu Hotel.
• Prison island tour with lunch at Changuu Hotel and snorkelling
