PLEASE NOTE: THIS JOURNEY CAN BE OPERATED AS A PRE- OR POST-CRUISE EXTENSION, OR AS AN OVERLAND CONNECTING TWO PORTS OF CALL.

DAY 1 - Arrival destination to Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is popularly known as the “Rose of the North.” The city is attractively situated on the banks of the Ping River and lies in the fertile plain partially surrounded by forested hills. Chiang Mai has developed into a dynamic, thriving city of over 1.5 million people, and is northern Thailand's transportation, communication and commercial hub. Despite this active development, however, the traditional charms of upcountry Thailand still prevail.

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi or the Four Season Resort Chiang Mai. The balance of the day will be at leisure.

DAY 2 - Chiang Mai
After breakfast, you will embark on an introductory tour of the city, beginning with the Waroros Market, a lively and colorful place presenting an excellent opportunity for seeing the rich variety of northern Thailand's fresh produce.

Following the market, take a short "samlor" (tricycle) ride to Wat Phra Singh. This temple has been one of Chiang Mai's most important sanctuaries with its famed Viharn Laikham.

Your morning will conclude with a drive outside the city to Wat Doi Suthep, which sits 3,500 feet above the valley floor, commanding a stunning view of the forested mountain slopes and the green valley below.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

This afternoon, you will visit an elephant camp to partake in a mahout (elephant trainer) course, which will give you the opportunity to learn the basic commands and to be up close and personal with these gentle giants.

In the evening, enjoy an introduction to this magical city with a walk through the Chiang Mai Night Market, the largest and most colorful in Southeast Asia.

DAY 3 - Chiang Mai
This morning, you will have a chance to join a Thai cooking class at the hotel, followed by lunch.
The balance of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 4 - Chiang Mai to final destination
Your visit to Chiang Mai comes to an end today when you are transferred to Chiang Mai Airport for your departure flight.
