Day 1 - Arrive London and on to Oxford and Cheltenham

Journey west out of London today, making your way first to Oxford, home to the oldest university in the English- speaking world. Tolkien and Stephen Hawking. Embark on a walking tour of Oxford city centre, beginning at Magdalen Bridge and admire some of the ancient colleges and attractive architecture of the city.

Pause for lunch at your leisure before continuing to the gentle, rolling Cotswolds and Cheltenham Spa. Once a humble market town, Cheltenham has been a fashionable spa town swathed in Regency architecture since 1788. A century later, the rich and famous began flocking in droves to take in the curative waters that are said to relieve a variety of ills and afflictions. Check in to your hotel here and enjoy an evening at leisure.

Today the site is as tranquil as any in the English countryside, with the ruins of a great Benedictine abbey built by William standing near where the battle took place. Enjoy prime views of the races from your privileged seat in the grandstand at the start line, and join racing VIPs, including the likes of Richard Attwood and Derek Bell, as you witness this celebration of historic racing.
