Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Galle

 Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by our Airport Representative and introduced to your driver-guide. Transfer from airport to Amangalla Resort through the southern expressway (approximate duration 2 ½ hours).
Arrive at the Amangalla Resort that sits within the ramparts of the 17th-century Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Named after ‘Aman’ the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’, and ‘galla’ the Sinhalese word for the town of Galle, the resort mirrors the fort’s daily activities and its rich legacy.
Check in and indulge in the resort’s facilities.
This evening pamper yourself with a rejuvenating 60 minute spa treatment.*

Day 2 - Galle

 After breakfast proceed to the Virgin White Tips tea plantation in Handungoda (approximate duration 25 minutes)*
Handungoda produces Virgin White Tea which is the only tea untouched by hand. This tea possesses over 10% antioxidants and is considered the purest tea in the world. You are guided around the estate by the resident estate manager who demonstrates the process of plucking the virgin white tea and explains the culture of the tea to you. After being shown around the whole plantation, you can watch the tea manufacturing process taking place in the  factory and also go on to taste over 20 different teas produced at the estate. After your tour, return to the resort.
This afternoon take a guided tour of Galle Fort.*
The Galle Fort, built with solid granite by the Dutch in 1663, is a world heritage site, and is the largest remaining fortress in Asia, built by European occupiers and is an ancient hub for trading.
The most enjoyable way to experience the fort is by walking. A leisurely walk leads past the Old Dutch Church, the Governor’s house, the spice warehouses, Court Square, the Kacheri (town hall), the lighthouse and on to the sea wall and ramparts. Walk pass the mosque and meander down streets leading to cricket fields, the temple, and the old District Judge's house surrounded by ancient frangipani trees. Climb higher to enjoy views across Galle and take in St. Aloysius Cathedral, the Galle International Cricket pitch and the port. 
This evening enjoy a light meal at one of the selected restaurants located within the Fort.*

Day 3 - Galle - Tangalle

 After breakfast proceed to Tangalle enjoying the scenic southern coastal belt of Sri Lanka (approximate duration 2 hours).
Arrive at Amanwella Resort that rests in a mature coconut grove fronting a crescent-shaped beach close to the fishing town of Tangalle in the Deep South. Deriving its name by combining the words Aman, or “peace” in Sanskrit, and wella, the Sinhalese name for “beach” the resort is an icon for a contemporary beachfront resort.
Check in and indulge in the resort’s facilities.

Day 4 - Tangalle - Mulkirigala - Tangalle

 After breakfast enjoy an expedition to Mulkirigala rock temple (approximate duration 35 minutes).*
Mulkirigala monastic site, which is also called Mulgirigala, is located on an isolated rock that rises approximately 210m above the forest canopy, with seven cave temples situated in five terraced areas of different altitudes. They are the Lower Terrace (Patha Maluwa), Bo Tree Terrace ( Bodhi Maluwa). Great King's Temple Terrace (Raja Maha Vihara Maluwa), Upper Bo Tree Terrace (Uda Bodhi Maluwa) and Chetiya Terrace (Chaitya Maluwa). These terraces can be accessed comfortably through well paved granite paths. One of the main highlights is the amazing array of cave paintings.
Afternoon return to the resort.
This evening, relax during a soothing 60 minutes spa treatment at the spa or in the privacy of your suite.*

Day 5 - Depart Tangalle

 After breakfast travel to the airport for your onward departure flight. (approximate duration 4 ½ hours)
